Naples, Fla. – July 20 2010 – Panther Run Golf Club is the new name for the 18-hole championship golf course designed by legendary architect Gordon Lewis, which is located within the Del Webb Naples community. Mike and Joyce Wasylak, residents of Del Webb Naples, were named the winners of the golf club naming contest, and won a Titleist branded golf club. “Renaming the golf club to Panther Run is perfect given that the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge is within several miles from the golf club’s area and that the Florida panther remains one of the most rare and endangered animals in the world,” said Ryan Marshall, division president for the South Florida operations of Del Webb. “The new name creates a distinct and unique identity for the golf course that will help to attract more golfers to play this great course, and to visit the Del Webb Naples community,” added Marshall. Opened in 2007, the golf club boasts an expansive practice facility with five practice greens, a short game area, which includes two practice sand bunkers and an aqua driving range with natural turf target greens. PGA professionals are on-site for individual lessons, group clinics and video swing analysis. A pro shop also features all the latest equipment, accessories and apparel. The golf club was recently named as a 2010 Top 50 golf course for women by Golf Digest magazine and was nominated as a Top 10 New Public Course in 2007 by Golf Magazine. Panther Run Golf Club is within Del Webb Naples, an active community for those aged 55 and older. The community will have 2,000 homes at built out, with a 35,000-square-foot amenity center to be built in early 2011. All Del Webb residents receive a complimentary golf membership with their home purchase. For more information, visit www.playpantherrun.com | |||
